Forgiveness Gives Life

I know we've all heard the saying "don't let them live rent free in your head". As cliché as that may sound, that is precisely what someone does when you allow unforgiveness to roam the corridors of your mind and allow grudges to set camp in your heart. Other than this imaginary power of "being in control" of the situation, what does holding grudges in your heart and mind really benefit? Your bank account doesn't multiply, your energy doesn't increase, your vibe isn't enhanced, and most importantly your peace of mind isn't positively affected. Don't believe me? Well, let's look at the stats.

According to the article 'Healthy Aging' which was published in the John Hopkins Medical journal, it states: "Studies have found that the act of forgiveness can reap huge rewards for your health, lowering the risk of heart attack; improving cholesterol levels and sleep; and reducing pain, blood pressure, and levels of anxiety, depression and stress. And research points to an increase in the forgiveness-health connection as you age." Unforgiveness not only affects you spiritually and emotionally, but it affects you physically.

Just let that sit for a moment; unforgiveness and holding grudges has the aptitude to literally affect you in EVERY aspect and area of your life, naturally and sub-naturally. I don’t know about you, but if you plan to ‘take over world one day’ or be impactful in anyway, the first thing you must evaluate is the importance of unforgiveness in your life. I understand that we live in a society where it is deemed trendy to ‘get back’ or ‘get even’ with someone or something, but at what cost exactly? How about we start a trend where we not only forgive the people and situations that brought us that quite pain at night, but let's talk about it with other people in the same situation and make a conscience and subconscious choice to send good vibrations to a bad situation. #LetsTalk

There is one scripture, from the Bible, I keep very close to me and that’s “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”(Proverbs 18:21). I simply love this scripture not just because it is encouraging, but because it shows us what type of power we have and what type of power we can express. You literally have the choice to speak life or death over not just your situation but over your life as a whole. If you don’t believe me, let’s look at something that is a little more ‘mainstream’ like The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction states: “the belief that the universe creates and provides for you that which your thoughts are focused on. It is believed by many to be a universal law by which “Like Always Attracts like.” The results of positive thoughts are always positive consequences”. As you can see this even alludes to the fact energy comes from what energy you give out. Let’s have a discussion about vibrations, aka vibes, since this is becoming a popular subject on social media and I don’t think people really understand the power they encapsulate.

We see statuses left and right saying; “Good vibes Only” or “I only want positive people in my life”, etc. When seeing these post, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t the person they are talking about, but the intent behind that status. What lead the person to say that, why do they feel the need for positive vibes only? I think instead of trying to feed off the vibrations of others we must start doing more self-evolution and see what vibrations we are leaving around for people to experience. Remember you set the standard of the way people treat you and if they treat you outside of the standard, then it is up to you if you will allow the mis-treatment to have a negative or positive effect on you. Yes, we are human and yes we make mistakes and have feelings BUT we are ultimately the captain of our own ship on the sea of life.

Everything we do and say starts with a thought so if your mind is full of unforgiveness then you will act that out in your day to day, believe it or not. At the end of the day it comes down to this; the only way to have and understand true peace is if you let go of the things that aren’t meant to be a part of you. We are so quick to let go of people in our lives, but we don't want to let go of what they did to us and that is the thing that carries the most weight. That business you are trying to start or the company you are trying to partner with might be one step closer if you choose to let go of dead weight.
